Oatey no-caulk drain Author: jh10863 (GA) Hello,I'm installing a shower base with an oatey no calk drain.The problem is I'm not sure how the calking gasket works,if I put it on the 2 in pvc first like the instruction on oatey web site say, it slides down the pipe, the instuctions with the drain tells me to slide the gasket into the drain body first,if i do that the gasker pusher out of the top of the drain and will not seat,any suggestions?By the way its a slab floor with the stub cut flush with the floor Edited 1 times. Re: Oatey no-caulk drain Author: e-plumber (NY) Are you using the correct gasket? It is supposed to be VERY tight onto the pipe while assembling it, there is no sliding down the pipe involved here. It needs to be lubed slightly, pushed into position, (into the strainer cup) and compressed with the tool and held into place by the ring, supplied by Oatey.
