UPDATE: Since Garmin will only sell you 4gb cards, guess the writing is on the wall. If I want all these different mapsets on the unit, it will have to be through the unit itself not the micro sd. You cannot put one mapset on the sd card at a time. It will over write and you will end up with the last one you tried to add. If you combine them, you must check them all on in myMaps or it will give you nothing.

The end result is that I had to painstakingly highlight each grid one at a time and chose carefully what i want, instead of just highlighting the whole map. I'm down to 3.68Gb this way. Lot of work but I actually still get what i want. The national parks topo's are useless. I loaded one of them alone just to see what it looked like.
