First of all I am not recommending, endorsing nor promoting this product. I just saw the TV ad for it during the late night hours. I assume this is one of those 'YEAH RIGHT this really works the way they say it does' type of products. [note sarcasm please]. The claims appear great BUT I wonder if the actual 'performance' lives up to the 'hype'. This product is called the FixMeStick. Nikon S200 Repair Manual.
Supposedly all you do is plug it into a USB port, reboot your computer, and let the super-awesome, amazing anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-rootkit, anti-whatever program(s) do their thing. It also supposedly can boot up a network connection to update itself, When finished just unplug it and reboot the computer. IT says it reads all files and runs them through some kind of 'filter' and they come out clean. The trial version is like $40 and the Pro version is $300. It DOES state at the bottom of the webpage that this is NOT a substitute for a good anti-virus program but will clean stuff that gets past the anti-virus programs/systems. Anyone come across this little device before?????

Hello, I'm one of the FixMeStick founders. @quietman7 you are definitely right- there are a bunch of free Rescue CD/USB options out there.
What we found interesting was that, despite the fact that this approach is known to be extremely effective at detecting and removing malware, it is only used by 'techies.' Non-technical users with a malware problem either bug a techie friend or pay well north of $100 to a computer repair shop. Many types of malware require a bootable solution because they hook into Windows so early in the loading process that it is virtually impossible to remove them from software running on top of an infected operating system.
Our goal with FixMeStick is to bring this technology to the masses by: 1- Making it really easy to boot (basic users find the BIOS too confusing). 2- Making it really easy to run a scan with multiple engines (with FixMeStick, this is automatic since we license the technology from the vendors and integrate it into one app/UI) 3- Making it really easy to update (you don't have to reburn anything and you don't even have to know your wifi credentials to connect to wifi and update the malware definitions) 4- Make it compatible with the widest range of systems (many rescue CDs fail to run on certain hardware) 5- Make it affordable compared to going to a repair shop. 6- Make it really easy to get (many basic users have a hard time burning an iso).
